Dr. Scott Wyzykoski, DDS

Julie Malcolm, RN

Owners/Managers

We have been married since 2009, and we started Bentley Family Dentistry in 2018 together and had 2 ridiculously loveable daughters in the short time since.

Dr. Wyzykoski grew up about 50km southwest of Bentley in a log house on a small family farm that he is still proud to be a part of today.   He has always called Alberta home and loves living in Central Alberta, regardless of the harsh winter weather. He was a rodeo cowboy, in what seems like a previous life, for over 20 years. He considers himself first, and foremost, a cowboy.

Julie is responsible for the tasteful renovation of this building for dental use and is also our infection control guru and dental RN for surgical procedures. She has had 2 other jobs. One as a part-time Operating Room Nurse in Red Deer and two, as an OT specialist with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) in not-so-touristy places, although motherhood has suspended that calling for a few years.

Dr. Josh Handy, DDS

Dentist

Hello! I was born and raised in Calgary so I visit my parents and younger brother there often.  It was during my microbiology undergraduate degree at the U of C that I became interested in dentistry. I had always had an admiration for my family’s dentist growing up, I thought dentistry uniquely combined a passion for science and craft and I thought it would be very fulfilling to help people. I am a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Dentistry and I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to serve my community.

On a more personal note, I recently married a dental school classmate of mine; I am the lucky guy who got to marry the prettiest girl in school. In my free time, I love to read, my brother and I have a “100 books to read before you die list” and have a gentlemen’s wager as to who can finish first. I also enjoy long-distance running, football, basketball and a newfound appreciation for playoff hockey.

Cindy Oliver

Registered Dental Assistant

My name is Cynthia L Oliver, but that’s pretty formal! Somewhere along the way I became Cindy Lou… yes Cindy Lou Whoo! It’s a name that has followed me from place to place over the years!

Red Deer, Alberta is my hometown however, I’ve lived in two other interesting places. Yellowknife NWT where I fell in love with the Aurora Borealis, and Drumheller, Alberta with its unique scenery and desert like qualities.

Many years ago I challenged the dental assisting program at NAIT and I have never looked back.

I have been a dental assistant for over 30 years and have experience in every aspect of dental care, from tooth extraction to tooth replacement and everything in between. My goal as a dental assistant was to always be caring and compassionate while helping create healthy beautiful smiles. My goals are fulfilled daily! Most people are not that excited about going to the Dentist, I’m here to make it a better experience! As a member of our Central Alberta Dental Assistants association, I held the position of Dental Health month for 8 consecutive terms as well as the role of association President for 2 years.

When I’m not at work I enjoy birdwatching, photography and watercolour painting. My passion though is for Golf! There are four seasons in the year for most people, in my world I have two…eight months of golfing and four months of not golfing! From April to October if you are looking for me, I’m likely to be found on a course trying to get that hole in one!

Teale Gibson

Registered Dental Assistant.

Hi there! My name is Teale, I have been a dental assistant for almost 9 years.  I graduated from the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, B.C and have worked alongside Dr. Scott since 2015. I am excited and proud to be a part of Bentley Family Dentistry.

I live north of Bentley on a small 4 acre ‘Hobby Farm’ with my husband, Cole and son Wyatt. I’m fortunate enough that my career has given me the opportunity to give back to local communities through actively volunteering for the Dental Outreach of Red Deer program and abroad volunteering for ‘A Better World Canada’ in Kenya, Africa. In my spare time you’ll see me playing any type of sport (mainly baseball and hockey) camping,  adventuring with my small family and spoiling my neices and nephews. I strive to make people’s dental experiences as pleasant as possible through active listening, compassion and clarity. I am very humbled to have roots developed in Bentley and can’t wait to help our great little community more!

Haley North

Dental Assistant Student

Hello! My name is Haley and I am currently in school to become a Registered Dental Assistant through an online program in Calgary. Im proud to say I will be registered in 2023!

I grew up in Eckville and started the Welding program at the Red Deer Polytechnic straight out of high school. I received my Journeyman certificate in March 2021 and only used it for about 6 months. Although I still enjoy welding and will occasionally do it around the house, I was looking for a change. I always knew I wanted to do something in healthcare and I loved going to the dentist(I know, weird) A large part of liking the dentist was the amazing dental assistants I had, my goal is to be that comforting person for my patients when they walk through the door
.
When I’m not at work you can find me with my other half working on our house, doing school work, visiting my family, or at the rink watching my younger brother play hockey!

Tessa Cameron

Registered Dental Hygienist

Hello! My name is Tessa and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist that graduated from the University of Alberta with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2018, and then a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2019. I am currently living in Blackfalds, and have been working at Bentley Family Dentistry since February of 2019. I love the small town feel and sense of community that comes with working in a rural dental office, and I can’t wait to keep meeting all of the great people in Bentley and the surrounding towns!

I grew up in Blackfalds and was involved in the competitive dance community in central Alberta before I pursued a career in dental hygiene. I always knew that I wanted to be a part of the dental profession from a young age, and I am very excited and proud to be here. When I am not at work, I enjoy being outside with our dog Jobi, cooking, camping and travelling whenever I get the chance! My husband Taylor and I are excited to be welcoming our first baby into the world in May 2023. I look forward to becoming part of the community and promoting great oral health!

Alycia Poffenroth

Registered Dental Hygienist

I grew up in Ponoka, Alberta and went to hygiene school in Mississauga, Ontario in 2010 and graduated from The Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene with my diploma in 2012.

For 8 years I worked at Aurora Dental Group in Lacombe and now I am excited to be with Bentley Family Dentistry meeting neighbours and community members. I live just west of Bentley on a farm with my husband Colin, and three kids, Sofie and Jack and Kacey. Right now my spare time consists of raising three kids, cooking for the farm boys, gardening and spending time in my yard!

I have loved becoming a member of the Bentley community and look forward to meeting more people and getting more involved!

Hailey Bevans

Registered Dental Hygienist / Myofunctional Provider

I am a Southern Alberta girl and after graduating from a technical school in Toronto I moved to Lacombe in 2016. I practiced as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 5 years and found a passion for everything functional I like to say!

I now mainly focus on helping people correct their chewing, breathing and swallowing patterns, called Myofunctional Therapy. This type of therapy is truly my passion as it deals mostly with the sleep medicine field, which is now overlapping with my other passion of Orthodontics. If I’m not trying to improve someone’s skeleton, or muscle movements, you will find me with any four legged creature I can find, or soaking up all things outdoors.

Bre Davidson

Sterilization Technician

Having moved around Western Canada my partner and I have finally decided to settle down in central Alberta and despite the cold winters, we’ve been loving it! Completely new to the dental field, everyday has been an opportunity to learn something new, and I have a great team to learn from.

When I’m not at work, you can find me cuddled up on the couch watching a new movie, playing a board game, or entertaining my friends.  I love to travel and have been lucky enough to see some pretty amazing places, most recently San Francisco, with another trip in the works!

I’m happy to be here and to have the chance to make a difference in the community. Go Flames!
